 Meet Amie Banting
Dental Hygienist

Amie's passion for dentistry started at a young age, inspired by her late father, Dr. R.W. Banting, a dedicated dentist. Growing up, she spent countless hours at her father's dental practice, assisting with administrative duties and dental procedures. This early exposure fueled her desire to pursue a career in dental hygiene.

In 2003, Amie graduated from the Dental Hygiene Diploma program at The Canadian Institute of Dental Hygiene in Hamilton, Ontario. Shortly after, she received certification from the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board and began her clinical dental hygiene career alongside her father. Amie further advanced her expertise by completing the Restorative Dental Hygiene program with honors at George Brown College in 2006.

In 2008, Amie founded Heritage Dental Hygiene, a practice dedicated to providing personalized and compassionate care. In 2024, she proudly celebrated 16 successful years in business and marked 21 years in clinical dental hygiene practice.

Amie’s dedication to advancing the dental profession doesn’t stop at patient care. She is also passionate about sharing her knowledge with colleagues. Amie frequently lectures on a variety of relevant dental topics, ranging from best practices in dental hygiene to the latest advancements in oral health care. Her goal is to inspire and educate fellow dental professionals, helping them stay informed on new techniques and evidence-based practices that enhance patient care.

In 2013, she became a mentor with The College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario and is an active member of both The Canadian Dental Hygiene Association and The College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario. She also serves on the Independent Practice Advisory Committee and the National Service Code Committee for the Canadian Dental Hygiene Association.

Outside of her profession, Amie is passionate about health and wellness. In 2013, she completed the Culinary Nutrition Expert program with the Academy of Culinary Nutrition in Toronto, reinforcing her belief in the connection between oral and systemic health.

A breast cancer survivor, Amie has successfully fundraised for the CIBC Run for the Cure, raising $9,000 with her team, "Amie’s Advocates." She continues to support causes close to her heart and inspire others with her resilience.

When she’s not in the office, Amie enjoys spending time with her husband and her niece Lilly in Niagara Falls, staying active, and constantly expanding her knowledge.
