Is Toothpaste Tube Contamination An Issue To Consider?

YES!!

It is recommended that each person has their own tube of toothpaste to use.

The opening of the toothpaste tube can be a source of bacteria transmission by cross-contamination.

The potential bacteria that can be cross-contaminated is linked to oral and systemic disease. The cross-contamination of bacteria occurs when members of the household come into contact with the neck of the same tube of toothpaste with their toothbrush.

Each person in the household should have their own tube of toothpaste to prevent cross-contamination and control the potential for infection.

It is recommended that each person has their own tube of toothpaste to prevent the potential transmission of infectious diseases such as hepatitis B, gastroenteritis, cold or even the flu.
